A Brief History

Shortly after WWII, in 1948, the Lewiston Hotel was opened. Back then, it was call the Neuenfelt Hotel. Over the next 60 years it was expanded and changed hands a few times. Recent efforts have been made to restore the this historical hotel its former glory.


A brief timeline is provided below:


1948 - Opened Ruth and Herald Neuenfelt. Herald was the brother of Lila Neuenfelt, a Lewiston native and famous judge in Dearborn.


1971 - Carl and Fran Hart took over. Carl was 28 at the time. Carl said back then the bar got a little rough around hunting season. Everyone knew if Carl took his watch off it was time to clean up your act.


1972 - Carl and Fran did a major remodel. They removed the old kitchen and restaurant and added the hotel rooms in it's place. They built a new smaller kitchen and seating area at the north end of the building where it is today.


2016 - October 1st Carl sold the bar to Mike Lietzke a Fairview native. Mike is responsible for turning the Lewiston Hotel into the major attraction in the area that it is today. Even through the Covid years the restaurant continued to grow and prosper.


2022 - June 1st Mike sold the restaurant to Troy & Crissy Willett who are proud take part in carrying the torch and continue growing the Lewiston Hotel for decades to come.
